INSPYRD MOVEMENT: Black Girls Do Bike Developmental Ride #1 / 20 mi @ your pace / Dawn Piech
About this event
Come join Black Girls Do Bike in the first of their four Developmental Rides:
From the Black Girls Do Bike Chicago Facebook page:
"Welcome to the 1st April Developmental Ride in the 2025 Series!
We’ll be reviewing bike safety, reacquainting ourselves with our bikes and one another. These are ‘no drop’ rides and EVERYONE is Welcome! Several ride leaders will be on each ride, so there will someone to ride with you at all times.
We will also take a group picture prior to the ride and will start PROMPTLY at 2:30pm
WHAT YOU NEED:
Helmets: Are REQUIRED!
Gear Bag: buy a gear bag (saddle bag is recommended) and stock it with the basics – 1-2 tire tubes, tools, a small multi-tool, and either a mini-pump or a CO2 cartridge set (you don’t have to know how to change a flat but PLEASE have your own supplies, so that we may assist you in getting your bike up and rolling again).
Hydration/Food: Remember to bring Water Bottle and maybe an Energy Snack
Lights: Front & Rear Cycling Lights, especially for evening and street riding.
Tire Pressure: Please be sure to pump your tires prior to coming to the ride or bring a floor pump to use in the parking lot before the ride. If you need help, the ride leader will be there to help you learn.
***If you have tubeless tires to be sure to carry the stem remover and a bottle of sealant so you can add sealant on the fly if you need to.
Your Bike: Give it a quick inspection. Spin the wheels to make sure they aren’t rubbing. Do the gears shift accurately and easily? Does everything seem to be in order? This is called an ABC check. (Air, Brakes, and Chain)
In Addition, you may find that Sunglasses, Cycling Gloves and Padded Cycling Shorts will make your ride more comfortable.
Arrive at least 30 minutes early to the ride, so that you may prepare yourself, your bike and be available for a group photo. We will depart PROMPTLY at the posted ride time!"
