Snowshoe The Porcupine Wilderness To Trap Falls/ 10+miles/ George Pastorino

This a 10 mile route that is non technical, but difficult due to the remote location and the distance in what is usually deep snow. Pussanee and I did this as 12 mile out and back in 2016. This one will be a 10 mile loop. Tentative Route is as follows: From the top of the lift we follow the groomed area of the ski hill west, parallel the rope tow across the top until we come to a ski trail named Double heading south (about 1 km). we would go a short distance and the ski trail forms a "T". One (right) way goes to west vista. We will go left towards big hemlock ski trail (1 km) and follow the big hemlock (2 k or so) until we find the sign heading to trap falls (should be about 1.5 miles). This is the Union Springs Hiking Trail which leads to the Govt. Peak Trail...we go left(South) to Trap Falls. Going back we take Govt Peak North to Big Hemlock east to the Chalet.Everyone one must carry a pack with the survival gear that I have detailed in previous notes. This will be reviewed later. This is a great hike with few people and a true wilderness experience. Excellent Fitness required.
